  • Ticker/Company: SIRI, LSXMA

Headline: Pandora and Sticher are combining to create a new advertising unit

Takeaway:  SiriusXM announced on Monday that they will be creating a new advertising-focused unit that will span over their audio platforms. The advertising sales unit will be called "SXM Media" and will produce and manage digital advertising across SiriusXM, Pandora,  and their podcast platform Sticher. The unit will offer advertisers the ability to advertise across all three of SiriusXM's properties, which has to be done separately until now. This will allow advertisers a "shotgun" approach in advertising, hitting the car, streaming audio, and podcast all in one. SXM Media will also serve as the exclusive advertising and sales representative for other platforms and podcasters, such as Soundcloud and NBCUniversal News Group.

  • Ticker/Company: SNAP, GOOG, #TikTok

Headline: Youtube is creating a $100m fund to pay its YouTube Shorts creators

Takeaway: YouTube will be paying creators using their Shorts platform an $100m over the next year to go after TikTok. The goal is to encourage the creators who already use Youtube to pick up and continually post to Shorts vs. using TokTok. Youtube will be handing out money to creators on a monthly basis, looking for people with the most engagement and views, as long as the videos are original and abide by Youtube's TOS (Terms of Service). This is similar to what TikTok did in July 2020, when they launched a $200m creator fund, but YouTube is acting much more aggressively with fund launching just two months after Youtube Shorts was launched.

  • Ticker/Company: LYV

The initial capacity constraint will be 67%, approximately 11,000 tickets, and can change based on the county's color code. Two sections of the venue will be reserved for non-vaccinated audience members with proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours before attendance, and mask-wearing will be required for all in attendance.
